Designer Trend Panel: Craft Fusion - Using Mixed Media to Grow Business

S105 - Panel Discussion
Designer Trend Panel: Craft Fusion - Using Mixed Media to Grow Business
Monday, July 18, 2011
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Room: 25

Who Should Attend: Designers

Is Mixed Media the new BIG trend we’ve been waiting for? How do we grow this new interest in hands - on crafts in a technology driven age? How can we encourage an even younger generation to join in?

Consumers are discovering a newfound creativity within themselves that is flourishing outside the scrapbooking album. As a result, a new generation of crafters has been born. Scrapbookers have slowly but surely become crafters, enjoying a whole new realm of creative pursuits in addition to the hobby they already enjoy - how can we use this same model to create new crafters?

Please join us for a lively and informative discussion on how to work with a wide variety of product that will grow our businesses and increase our profit margins. Industry veterans will share from past experiences ways to capitalize on this new era of crafting.

Panel members include: Linda Augsburg (Editor, Favecrafts, online resource for crafters), Linda Bagby (I Love to Create, Manufacturer), Julie Fei Fan Balzer (Mixed Media Artist), Mike Hartnett (Editor and Founder, Creative Leisure News), Jen Mason (Editor, Cloth Paper Scissors), Kathie Stull (Producer, “How To” TV Craft Shows), Jo Pearson (Host of Where Creativity Happens and Michaels' spokesperson), and moderator, Julie McGuffee (TV Host, Award Winning Designer, Crafter and Author).
