Exhibitor Alert

Construct Data Verlag AG of Austria, Commercial Online Manuals S de RL de CV of Mexico and similar companies are apparently continuing to target trade show exhibitors. They offer advertising space on their Fair Guide and/or Expo Guide websites, using a form which resembles an organizer’s free catalog listing service, inviting exhibitors to sign and return the form for an entry in an on-line directory.

Exhibitors who sign and return the form are then bound to a non-terminable agreement at significant cost for a period of at least three years and automatically renewing thereafter at the same cost, unless canceled by registered letter within the appropriate period.

Click HERE to see sample invoice/form.

If you have fallen victim to the scammers please refer to the website www.stopecg.org, which provides some guidance for any exhibitors who fall prey.

The website was set up originally to deal with the European City Guides and Construct Data Verlag scam, but it now addresses several other similar scams and its advice. Further, if a victim has paid using a credit card, they should contact their credit card provider and ask for the charge to be reversed.

BEWARE OF HOUSING SCAMS

WARNING!!! CHA has been advised that there are several other "housing" companies approaching exhibitors soliciting hotel rooms for the CHA events. Several companies, including one currently known as International Events based in Las Vegas have repeatedly taken payment for rooms offered at lower rates, then not booked the rooms and refuted all efforts to reclaim monies.

Par Avion is CHA's ONLY approved housing provider and is the ONLY housing company that can guarantee your reservation and CHA's rates. DO NOT believe companies that claim they can get rates lower then CHA. ALWAYS ask if they are official CHA vendors and ask to be shown paperwork with CHA logo on it. ALL CHA vendors can use this logo and scammers do not due to copyright infringement laws.

Please email operations@craftandhobby.org if you are solicited by someone other than Par Avion so CHA may take appropriate legal steps to protect members from this scam.
