About Canada Sews - Media

Canada Sews is a registered trade name to raise awareness of sewing nationally as a lifestyle skill and rewarding leisure-time activity to engage consumers, encourage trial, educates and train and create a positive imagre and is an organization within the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) to raise the awareness of sewing to the Canadian consumer and to educate, inspire and provide resources for all skill levels of sewing and encourage the purchase of sewing products. Canada Sews was launched in April 2012.

Canada Sews was initiated by a group of Canadian sewing industry manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, retailers, media and consumer show producers who approached CHA to see what could be done on a national level raise the awareness of sewing. Working together the Canada Sews group, including industry professionals from all levels of the supply chain and outside of individual business priorities, made it possible to harness the collective power of the industry to help attract a younger generation, re brand sewing as a youthful, trendy, fun, recreational activity full of creative self expression and with a sense of achievement. Canada Sews encourages sewing in all its formats, fashion, quilting, home décor or crafting.

With a focus on activity within the month of October each year, CHA and Canada Sews
provides it members with a platform to highlight sewing activities in stores, media and on line for the general public. CHA provides marketing and media resources as well as contests. Canada Sews will expand in the coming years, with new contests and resources for both retail stores and the general public.
