Elmwood Park, NJ, USA; January 08, 2010 — The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) is pleased to announce a partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation to raise funds, secure product donations, and generate greater awareness for the Kids In Need Foundation during the CHA Craft SuperShow and 69th Annual CHA Winter Convention & Trade Show held in Anaheim, California January 22 – 27, 2010.

As part of this new level of commitment to the Kids In Need Foundation, CHA will host a Kids Craft Fair on January 21, 2010 for 200 at-risk children at the local Boys & Girls Club of Fontana. CHA will also host two fundraising events including the World’s Largest Crop Attempt on January 23, 2010 at the Craft SuperShow and a silent auction held during the annual CHA Winter Trade Show January 24 – 27, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Proceeds and CHA member product donations will support children and teachers in under-funded and economically disadvantaged schools in Southern California through a Kids In Need Foundation partnership with Inland Empire United Way’s education and health initiative, KidSmart. The Kids In Need Foundation mission is to provide free school supplies to students most in need.

On Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 3-5 pm CHA will host a Kids Craft Fair benefiting 200 at-risk children at the Boys & Girls Club of Fontana Club at the Almeria Middle School in Fontana, California. CHA will work with Fontana’s Mayor Mark Nuami and council members - Frank Scialdone and Janice Rutherford, the Kids In Need Foundation, the Boy & Girls Club of Fontana, the Inland Empire United Way’s School Tools program, Auto Club Speedway, CHA’s Terri O, as well as educators and volunteers to put on this event.

In an effort to garner additional support for Kids In Need, during the Craft SuperShow on the 23rd CHA, the Kids In Need Foundation and CHA member Scrapbook Royalty will partner to host the World’s Largest Crop Attempt to raise awareness and money in an 11 hour scrapbooking crop. “The objective of the World’s Largest Crop Attempt is to help raise awareness for the Kids In Need Foundation,” explained Elena Etchaverry, founder, Scrapbook Royalty. Be sure to sign up for the crop at www.craftsupershow.com.

For the duration of the CHA Winter Show, from the 24th to the 27th, CHA will sponsor a silent auction of sports memorabilia and craft supplies. One of the items to be auctioned off includes the world’s largest beaded mosaic portrait of President Obama created by PhotoPearls and over 1,000 fourth graders from every state in the country. Ripley’s Believe It or Not has already expressed interest in making a bid. Grandstand Sports & Memorabilia will coordinate donations and manage the auction for CHA. Donated proceeds will help local teachers and educators in desperate need of school supplies.
